AAC BlockJoin Mortar

Description

SilicaMix Thin-Bed AAC Block Join, Light Weight Block Join Adhesive is grey cement dry-mix adhesive manufactured with fine quality graded sand, 53 grade cement, polymers and additives that enable thin bed application for joining blocks. All ingredients are blended in a controlled environment to deliver consistent quality. Conventional cement and sand mix at site is not suitable and long lasting for AAC blocks, we at SilicaMix bring polymer-modified fine grade sand mixed with right quantity and quality of cement and advanced chemicals. A 3mm to 4mm thickness of our AAC BlockJoin mortar is sufficient.

Benefits:
a) Ideal for quick laying AAC blocks with a thin layer of mortar between blocks.
b) High Strength and greater water retention properties aid stronger adherence of blocks
c) 3mm bed application between blocks makes it more affordable and quicker than conventional
d) 40kg bag can easily cover 160 sqft of area at 3mm thickness.
e) This is an instant mix and just need to add water at site. With reduces workers, more coverage area, this is a far superior product compared to conventional method of block joining at site.

Suitable Substrates

1. AAC Blocks
2. FlyAsh Blocks
3. Red Bricks
4. Solid Cement Blocks
5. Hollow Blocks
6. Other Kind of Light Weight Blocks

Coverage

One bag of 40kg thin-bed block join mortar covers 160-180 sqft of area when applied at 3mm even thickness between the blocks.

Water Demand

10 litre of clean water is required for 40kg block join mortar. Mortar should be mixed thoroughly as it contains binders and admixture.

Technical Data

1. Pot Life 1.5 – 2 Hours under normal climatic conditions
2. Open Time 20 Minutes
3. Split Tensile Strength > 0.4 MPa
4. Compressive Strength > 7 MPa
5. Water Requirement 10 to 10.5 liters for 40kg bag

Application Instructions

1. The blocks should be free from dust, dirt particles, foreign particles, oil, grease, dirt, loose gravel, loose particles and other such particles which may affect the bonding
2. The surface should be well cleaned before application, using tools such as a wire brush or other construction tools.
3. There should not be dampness, leakage, fungus, efflorescence, etc.
4. Glossy or painted surface should be sanded before placing the first layer of mortar and blocks.

Mixing

1. Take a clean bucket and fill it up with clean and good quality water. 10 litre of water for each 40kg bag.

2. Cut open the block join mortar bag carefully and empty bag into bucket and mix with a slow mixer machine or hand. Add more water if needed.

3. Mix the composition nicely for 2-3 minutes with electrical stirrer or trowel.

4. If material becomes hard to mix even after 2 minutes of mixing, add additional water until a workable mix is obtained. Homogenously mixed mortar can be let stand for 5-10mins before using for better results. Stir again before using the mix from the bucket.

Application

1. Decide the level of thickness required with a minimum of 3mm thickness between the blocks for better adherence and bonding.

2. Using notch trowel apply the mortar and place next layer of blocks on the mortar. Adjust the blocks for desired vertical and horizontal alignment. Preferably use plumb bob to ensure alignment. Adjust and beat the block with beating hammer or rubber mallet.

3. Curing is not needed for thin-bed block join mortar as our mix has excellent water retention properties and is self-curing mortar.
