Dry Mix Mortar

Ready Mix Plaster — Self Curing

A plaster formulated with built-in curing agents, so only 2 days of curing is required instead of the conventional 3–5 days. On multi-floor apartment work that shortens the curing cycle, frees up labour and releases walls to the finishing trade sooner.

How to use Ready Mix Plaster — Self Curing

Follow this sequence for consistent results. Deviating on water ratio or open time is the most common cause of on-site failure.

1

Prepare the surface

Clean the substrate of dust, oil and loose material. Dampen the wall — the surface should be moist but not dripping.

2

Mix

Add 6 litres of clean water per 40 kg bag (15% by weight) and mix mechanically for 3–5 minutes to a uniform, lump-free consistency. Allow to stand 5 minutes, then remix briefly.

3

Apply

Apply the 1st coat at 8–12 mm. Where a 2nd coat is needed, apply at 6–8 mm, to a maximum total thickness of 18 mm. Level with a straight edge.

4

Cure for 2 days

Float the surface at initial set. Because the mix contains curing agents, 2 days of curing is sufficient — against 3–5 days for conventional plaster.

Frequently asked questions

The questions contractors and site engineers ask us most about this product.

Does self curing plaster need no curing at all?
No — it still needs curing, but far less. The mix contains curing agents, so 2 days of curing is sufficient, against the 3–5 days required for conventional plaster. Skipping curing entirely is not recommended.
Where does self curing plaster save the most money?
On multi-floor apartment projects. Cutting the curing cycle from 3–5 days to 2 reduces curing labour and water logistics, and releases walls to the finishing trade earlier.
What is the compressive strength?
12.73 MPa at 28 days, with pull-off adhesion strength of 1.35 MPa, based on in-house laboratory testing. Full data is in the technical data sheet.
How much water per bag?
6 litres of clean water per 40 kg bag, which is 15% by weight. Adding more water reduces strength and increases shrinkage risk.
What coverage should I plan for?
15 sq.ft per 40 kg bag at 12 mm thickness on a reasonably even substrate. Rough or out-of-plane masonry consumes more.
What is the shelf life?
9 months from the date of originally sealed packaging when stored in a cool, dry place. Keep bags off the ground and unopened.
