Applications

Typical use cases where this product is specified on site.

How to use Ready Mix Plaster — Standard

Follow this sequence for consistent results. Deviating on water ratio or open time is the most common cause of on-site failure.

1

Prepare the surface

Clean the substrate of dust, oil and loose material. Dampen the wall with water — the surface should be moist but not dripping.

2

Mix

Add 6 litres of clean water per 40 kg bag (15% by weight) and mix mechanically for 3–5 minutes to a uniform, lump-free consistency. Allow to stand 5 minutes, then remix briefly. Do not re-temper with extra water once it stiffens.

3

Apply

Apply to the wall in a 6–20 mm layer using a trowel or plastering machine. Level with a straight edge.

4

Finish

Float the surface once initial set begins. Cure as per standard practice for 3–5 days.

Frequently asked questions

The questions contractors and site engineers ask us most about this product.

How much area does one bag cover?
15 sq.ft per 40 kg bag at 12 mm thickness on a reasonably even substrate. Rougher masonry consumes more material.
How much water should I add per bag?
6 litres of clean potable water per 40 kg bag — 15% by weight. Exceeding this reduces compressive and bond strength.
What is the compressive strength?
13.1 MPa at 28 days, with pull-off adhesion strength of 1.39 MPa. Values are from in-house laboratory testing; see the technical data sheet for full data.
What thickness should be applied?
1st coat 8–12 mm, 2nd coat 6–8 mm, to a maximum total thickness of 18 mm. After the final coat, cure for a minimum of 3 to 5 days.
What is the pot life after mixing?
1 to 1.5 hours under normal climatic conditions. Do not re-temper with additional water once the mix begins to stiffen.
Which substrates can it be applied to?
Conventional concrete hollow blocks, AAC blocks, cellular concrete blocks, fly ash bricks, red clay bricks, cement blocks and bricks, and stone walls.
What is the shelf life?
9 months from the date of originally sealed packaging when stored in a cool, dry place away from moisture.
